Newsletter
1 - Winter 2002
Dear
Friends,
I
feel the time is right to let you know how the appeal is progressing and
to thank you all for your support and encouragement which has kept us on
track during the past 6 months.
Working
Committee
We
now have a small working committee of people who are able to make a commitment
to practical help in many ways, both inside and outside Ty Encil Carreg
as well as offering legal and business expertise and professional advice.
·
The Rev’d Nick Hawkins has now moved to live at Bryn Mor, Llangwnadl. He
will act as general secretary for the project and bookings secretary for
all retreats, group and individual, to Ty Encil Carreg.
·
The Rev’d Andrew Jones, Llanbedrog, who is our Area Dean, is vice chair.
·
The Rev’d Emyr Owen, Nefyn, has now taken his place as Officer for Spirituality
on the Executive Committee of the Bardsey Island Trust and he is
now Chair of what was known as the Chapel and Retreats Committee and is
now the Committee for Spirituality for Bardsey Island.
Company
Registration
We
are now a registered company, limited by guarantee. We are registered as
Carreg Trust Ltd and our registered number is 4544822 Registered in Wales.
Charitable
Status
Our
application for Charitable Status is ready to be submitted to the Charities
Commission. Once this application has been accepted, we will be able to
reclaim the tax on all gift-aided donations.
Donations
To
date we have raised £5500 through direct giving from individuals,
church groups and parish fund-raising. We have had donations from the Roman
Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church and other ecumenically based groups.
Publicity
We
have had publicity through articles in the Church Times, the Church in
Wales’ Tourism Tidings, and interviews on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Wales. [And
of course our new Web Site!]
Any
suggestions for future fund-raising will be gratefully received.
Programme
for 2003
We
have made a number of bookings for group retreats.
We
have set aside weeks for individual retreats and details of these can be
found on this site.
